Everyone says they integrate. Few integrations are widely supported.
394 vendors, 1224 documented integration records, 2026-08-31
This index analyzes 394 HR software, payroll, EOR and workforce vendors with structured research on HR.software, covering 1224 documented integration records across 186 distinct integrations in 15 categories. A documented integration record means our research found published evidence of the connection — it does not measure sync depth, and a missing record never proves an integration does not exist.
Documented support concentrates on a small set of hub systems. Slack leads: 120 of 394 vendors (30.5%) document it. Workday, the QuickBooks family, Xero, BambooHR and Microsoft Teams follow. These hubs are the safest starting assumption for buyers — though depth still needs verification.

Beyond the hubs, support thins out fast. 124 of 186 distinct integrations (66.7%) are documented by exactly one vendor, and 75.3% by two or fewer — while the top-10 systems absorb 56.9% of all records. If your must-have system is not a hub, expect a very short documented shortlist and ask vendors directly.
Disclosure varies sharply by vendor type. 94.1% of HRIS vendors (n=185) document at least one integration, against 71.3% of EOR vendors (n=101). 51 vendors (12.9%) have no documented integration record at all — a disclosure gap, not a capability verdict.
share of category vendors with ≥1 documented integration record
65.5% of records carry a native label; 11.6% are API-supported and the rest split across partner, marketplace and Zapier routes. A support label is a disclosure about ownership, not proof of depth: API access is not a native integration, and a marketplace listing is not deep two-way sync.

Accounting is the most commercially decisive integration category, and it is a two-horse race: the QuickBooks family (89 vendors) and Xero (79) dwarf everything else, with NetSuite the only other system above single digits.

Workday is the most-documented HRIS target (91 vendors), followed by BambooHR and the ADP family. Documented SAP SuccessFactors and Oracle HCM support drops to 35 and 27 vendors respectively — enterprise buyers should verify these connections per module and per country.

The documented ATS segment is thin: Greenhouse tops it at 20 vendors, Lever at 12, and everything else is single digits. Recruiting-led integration buying has the narrowest documented shortlists of any category we measured.

Slack (120 vendors) and Microsoft Teams (67) make chat the best-covered integration surface. Identity is thinner: Okta at 37 vendors, the Entra/Azure AD family well behind — SSO and SCIM support remain plan-gated, verify-before-buying items.

The Integration Ecosystem Score measures disclosure and documented breadth — how many integrations a vendor documents, across how many categories, how clearly typed, how recently verified and how well sourced. It is not a product-quality ranking, and a lower score means less public documentation, not a worse product.
disclosure & documented breadth, 0–100 — not a product-quality ranking
87.9% of integration records were verified within the last 12 months. 60.4% rest solely on vendor-owned sources — normal for integration documentation, but a reason buyers should confirm sync depth in a live demo rather than from listings pages.
HR.software maintains 59 integration-led shortlist pages that apply this evidence to specific stacks. Start from the system you already run:
HR software that works with your stack — integrates with Workday, integrates with QuickBooks, integrates with Xero.
Payroll software — integrates with Workday, integrates with QuickBooks.
EOR providers — integrates with BambooHR, integrates with Workday.
A documented integration is the start of diligence, not the end. For each must-have connection, ask:
1. Is it native, marketplace, API, partner-built or custom — and who owns the connector?
2. Is sync one-way or two-way, per object rather than overall?
3. Which objects sync — employees, payroll data, time, benefits, expenses, candidates, invoices — and which fields, including custom fields?
4. Is sync real-time or batch, and on what schedule?
5. Who sets it up, and is implementation included or paid?
6. Are admin permissions required on the connected system, and are there API rate limits?
7. Does it support multiple countries, entities and currencies?
8. What breaks when the integration fails, and how do you find out?
9. Who provides support when sync breaks — the HR vendor, the connected app, or a third party?
10. Is the integration included in your plan or an add-on — and is SSO/SCIM gated to a higher tier?
